Welcome to Amathambo Orthopaedic Private Practice

We are based in Ballito on the north coast of Kwa-Zulu Natal.

Services rendered by the practice include the diagnosis and management of:

• All trauma related bone injuries (both adults and paediatrics)
• Shoulder, elbow, and hand pathologies
• General paediatric pathologies including club foot
• Sports related injuries
• General orthopaedic conditions
• Hip/knee replacements
• Bone infections (septic implants, bones)
• Bone tumours (bone cancer operations, both primary and secondary)
• Lower limb deformities (care of fracture healing, malunions, non-unions, Blount’s disease corrections, etc.)

Our Short Long Story:

We have known each other for more than 20 years. We met in 2001 when we were selected to study medicine through the RSA-CUBA Medical Collaboration Programme. Because of our rural background it was very much easy for us to get along, we were just young village boys with big dreams. After spending 6 years in a foreign land, we came back home to complete our final year of studies at University of the Witwatersrand.

We then did our internship at Far East Rand Hospital where the love and passion of orthopaedics was ignited. We then came back home (KZN) to do our community service at Edendale Regional Hospital (Pietermaritzburg) where the real journey began. However, we had to go separate ways for many years to further our studies but we have since reunited to continue with our journey of serving the community.
